Let's jump in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, a table-top wargame with miniatures from Games Workshop. I have already read it twice and maybe, I would read it again, and again.
The tile is "The Swords of the Emperor" by Chris Wraight, my favorite author of the Black Library. This omnibus is a combo with the two related books: "The Sword of Justice" and "The Sword of Vengeance" with two additional short stories.
Action, intrigue, violence, vengeance and redemption all just in the heart of the Empire.
What it is about?
The elections for the count elector in Averheim has been too long or, at least, that seems to the Emperor Karls Franz. Under this situation he decided to send his Champion Ludwig Schwarzhelm as a judge for a quickly election. But there are many powers inside Averheim that are involved in this "election" and things are not gonna be very easy for Ludwig 'cause the enemy don't fight in the same way he does.
What can we expect?
Action and intrigue. The first pages of the book get yourself inside the world of warhammer, the way that Chris Wraight writes is a very envolving way, you get really deep inside the history, but is not only the way he describes the action, is also the way he moves the story, you will be in many views, sometimes as the Champion himself, some more as his spy, as his soldiers or even as an insignificant villager but all related. I will say that there is no padding here.
Personal comments
Without doubts, this is one of my favorite books. The way you get involved in all the characters is just formidable! If you like to get involved in the universe of warhammer fantasy, this is a very good book. If you like to read action novels, this is a very good book. If you like to read fantasy novels, this is a very good book.
I really recommend it to you, even if you don't know anything about the world of Warhammer Fantasy.
